The Board of Supervisors appoints members to several Boards and Commissions that perform a variety of functions.
PLANNING COMMISSION The Township Planning Commission is comprised of seven members and serves in an advisory capacity. The Commission reviews subdivision plans, site plans and conditional use applications and makes recommendations for approval or denial to the Board of Supervisors. The Commission also approves all sign permit applications.
The Commission also reviews and makes recommendations on any zoning change request and on any other amendments to the Zoning Ordinance.
The Commission meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 P.M. in the Municipal Building. Applications for consideration by the Planning Commission must be submitted two weeks in advance of each meeting.
ZONING HEARING BOARD The Township's Zoning Hearing Board is a quasi-judicial body consisting of three permanent and two alternate members. The purpose of the Zoning Hearing Board is to ensure fair administration of the Township Zoning Ordinance.
The Zoning Hearing Board hears: appeals from actions of the Zoning Officer; challenges to the validity of provisions of the Zoning Ordinance; requests for variances where hardships are present; and special exception requests that are provided for in the Zoning Ordinance. However, the Zoning Hearing Board has no jurisdiction to make or modify zoning policy. The Zoning Hearing Board meets on an as-needed basis as applications are submitted for consideration. Their meetings are held in the Municipal Building.
PARK-RECREATION COUNCIL The Park-Recreation Council is comprised of seven members and serves the Board of Supervisors in an advisory capacity. The Council maintains and equips the Township parks and playgrounds. The Council also sponsors recreational activities and advises the Board of Supervisors on recreational matters.
The Council meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 P.M. in the Municipal Building.
SANITARY AUTHORITY The Sanitary Authority is composed of five members appointed by the Supervisors. The Authority handles the funding and construction of all sanitary sewage projects in the Township. The Authority's day-to-day operations are handled by a Business Manager and the Authority receives assistance from a consultant and an engineer.
The Authority meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 5:00 P.M. in the Municipal Building. The Authority's Business Manager can be reached at 724-225-9055.
BUILDING CODE APPEALS BOARD The Building Code Appeals Board is comprised of five members who hear appeals to the Townships Building Code. The Board meets on an as-needed basis when appeals are filed. Their meetings are held in the Municipal Building
