The Department of Public Safety was formed on April 12, 2005 to combine the services provided by each department in order to make efficient use of resources and manpower, and to better coordinate the delivery of services.
The Fire Department, Building Department, and Emergency Management are the components that make up the Department of Public Safety.
All current employees of the Fire, Building, and Emergency Management will be re-designated as “Public Safety Officers / Firefighters” and their mission is as follows:
Deliver constant fire protection and rescue, fire prevention education, economic development of community, construction planning, permitting process, plan reviews, new construction requirements, life safety requirements, code enforcement, and inspections.
