Township Seeking Volunteers

Volunteers Needed

The Township continues to recruit residents to volunteer on its new Parks and Recreation Commission (PARC) and the Uniform Construction Code (UCC) Board of Appeals. The PARC was recently established to advise the Board of Supervisors regarding development and oversight of Township parks, recreation areas and facilities and to provide recommendations on programming and long-range planning. This new permanent entity will be comprised of 9 members serving 5-year terms and will be organized once an adequate number of applications are received to fill the Commission. Any Township resident who enjoys the park system is encouraged to apply.

The UCC Board of Appeals shall hear and rule on appeals, requests for variances and requests for extensions of time. The Board shall hear appeals based on a claim that the true intent of the act or Uniform Construction Code has been incorrectly interpreted, the provisions of the act or Uniform Construction Code do not fully apply, or an equivalent form of construction is to be used. To be considered for appointment to this Board, applicants shall be qualified by training and experience to pass on matters pertaining to building construction. Training and experience may consist of licensure as an architect or engineer, experience in the construction industry, and training or experience as an inspector or plan reviewer. Township residents are encouraged to apply.

Applicants to all positions should submit a completed Boards and Commissions Application (attached below), resume and cover letter by mail to the Township Municipal Building (550 Washington Road, Washington, PA 15301) or email to info@southstrabane.com. All Township volunteer opportunities are listed on the Volunteers page of the website as well.
