Police Officer

Child Car Seat Installation
Residents may call or email to schedule an appointment to have their child seat checked for proper installation by a member of the Police Department. In addition to checking the seat for proper installation, the officer will check your seat for any current recalls, as well as instruct you in the proper use of the seat specific to the child using it.

Washington Hospital Baby Care Class
Once a month, an officer attends and presents at the Washington Hospital’s Baby Care Class. The Officer provides instructions on proper child restraint installation and use, as well as information pertaining to Pennsylvania seat belt laws.

Active Assault, "Active Shooter" Prevention and Preparedness Programs
Businesses, community organizations, and civilians living and working in South Strabane Township may request free training in a program called Active Assault. Experienced certified police officers will explain proactive, options-based strategies, rather than following traditional passive and static response recommendations, when faced with an active assault. If you do not have an active assault plan, we can meet with you to meet the needs of your organization, ensuring that you are better prepared.

Homeowners Association (HOA) Meetings
South Strabane neighborhood homeowner’s associations (HOA) may contact the Police Department to request that an Officer meet with them, or appear at an HOA meeting to discuss neighborhood concerns.

Identity Theft and Scam Prevention
Community groups and senior groups may contact us to schedule training for identity theft and scam prevention

COP Talk
The South Strabane Police Department has partnered with Trinity High School to offer “Cop Talk,” where Officers meet regularly with students attending freshman health class, and answer questions written by the students. The South Strabane Township Police Department also participates in the Officer Phil Program at Trinity Area Schools.

Narcan & First Aid
Officers have been issued the life-saving medication naloxone, commonly known by the trade name Narcan. All police officers are trained to administer Narcan to reverse the effects of overdoses caused by narcotics such as heroin, codeine or oxycodone. Narcan may help, for example, a child who accidentally swallows a prescription painkiller. Additionally, Officers are trained and certified in first aid and CPR.

Station Tours
Community groups may contact the Police Department and request a tour of the police station. For our future forensic investigators, the Department also offers child identification fingerprint kits (please call in advance for large groups of children).
