Disposing of E-Waste & Other Materials

E-Waste

Unfortunately, how to dispose of  items such as old televisions, computer towers and monitors, tires, batteries, and paint containers has become quite a dilemma! There are many organizations and events that are engineered to dispose of items such as these. Organizations that are not affiliated with South Strabane Township but may be of service to you can be found below:

Pennsylvania Resources Council

  • The Pennsylvania Resources Council specializes in E-Recycling events in Partnership with eLoop throughout Western Pennsylvania. Events scheduled to take place in Western Pennsylvania can be found by visiting here: (All events run from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.)
  • The Pennsylvania Resources Council also specialized in household chemical collection events. Events scheduled to take place in Western Pennsylvania can be found by visiting here: (All events run from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) 

JVS Environmental

  • JVS Environmental operates an electronics recycling facility, located at 1002 Almond Road in Ellsworth, PA 15331 (located behind the Ellsworth Post Office). The site will be open on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Acceptable items may be found at http://www.jvsenvironmental.net/. For further information concerning electronics recycling in Washington County please contact the Washington County Planning Commission at 724-228-6811. 

Westmoreland Cleanways 

  • 355 Pleasant Unity Mutual Road Greensburg, PA 15601. 
  • There is no limit or fee charged for the disposal of undamaged televisions. Those interested in dropping off televisions or scheduling a pickup appointment must call 724-879-4020 for hours of operation.For more information concerning the Westmoreland Cleanways Recycling Center please visit here.

Other E-Waste Recyclers:

  • Staples currently offers a free electronics recycling program for items such as cameras, computers, and cell phones. We encourage residents to visit here for a list of permitted and prohibited items. At this time Staples does not accept televisions

  • Evolution E-Cycling is a Pennsylvania based electronics recycling organization that specializes in commercial disposal of household electronics. Visit here for a list of drop off locations, accepted items, and associated fees.

  • eLoop is an organization located in Export, PA. Please visit here to see what items are accepted. Call 1-877-801-6057 for the product fee structure and further information.

  • Environmental Coordination Services & Recycling is located in Evans City, PA. This organization’s “Point and Pack” program will allow you to schedule a pickup date and time where they will come to your home and pick up household electronics and chemicals that may be too heavy or complicated to dispose of yourself.
