New Glass

In response to the removal of glass from Waste Management's residential recycling program, South Strabane Township is committed to providing residents with convenient outlets to recycle glass. Please view the information below. 

South Strabane Township Glass Dumpster
South Strabane Township residents are invited to drop off glass into the new glass dumpster located at the Township's Recycling Center (253 Zediker Station Road). Materials such as plastic, cardboard, and metal(s) WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Please observe the following tips to ensure the Township is compliant with the vendor's requirements. 

  • The dumpster and glass recycling service will be provided by Michael Brothers Hauling (901 Horning Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236). 
  • Glass containers must be rinsed of any perishable debris prior to being recycled. 
  • Adhesive labels do not need to be removed from glass prior to being recycled.
  • Plastic, cork, and bi-metal container lids must be removed prior to glass being recycled.
  • Glass products such as mirrors, porcelain dishware, and light bulbs WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.   

The recycling area is under 24/7 video surveillance. Proper compliance with the aforementioned rules is essential for the continuance of this service. Pennsylvania Resources Council
PRC will be hosting pop-up collection events where all colors of glass bottles and jars can be recycled free of charge for the public. All events will take place from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. For further information concerning the market for recycled glass and the PRC please visit here

Michael Brothers Recycling
A FREE glass recycling drop-off program is now available to South Strabane Township residents and other interested participants. You may drop off your glass and aluminum at the outdoor recycling drive-through area at Michael Brothers Recycling, (901 Horning Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15236) Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. All questions should be directed to (412) 835-6428.
